A friendly guide to the relationships between the various villages of the ninja world. :3
([kind of a history lesson? XD])
This is probably more important than some of you may realise, because if we take the real world for example, then sometimes when two countries are either at war, or at a situation where no information is really passed about another country, prejudices can arise and the way your character will react to another country may (intentionally or unintentionally, consciously or subconsciously) differ from nationality to nationality.
For example, in the real world, according to my teacher and parents, in the UK the phrase 'better to be red than dead' was common (refering to, 'you'd rather be dead than in a communist in the soviet union'). We kind of want this site to be vaguely realistic, in that the characters are 3D. The NV equivilent to something like this would probably be the relationship between, for example, Kirigakure and Takigakure.
You might have a perfect character who sees no flaws in anyone and never judges someone before they know them. Whoop dee doo, but I don't believe them at all.
On with the topic, anyway.
A – Allied
N – Neutral
H – Hostile
E – Exceptionally hostile (as in, it won’t take much more for war to break out)
W – At war.
X – N/A
Konoha: Well, Konoha have always been in favour of keeping peace between villages, but you can’t really be peaceful with Otokagure, can you?
Suna: With Subaku no Gaara as the Kazekage, it’s not surprising that they have only one alliance, and that’s with Konoha. As for the rest, they’re neutral if they stay out of Suna’s way and hostile if they don’t.
Kiri: Hostile with pretty much everyone, due to their 'different' ethics and things. Their alliance with Ame and Oto are because Ame is like a little brother and with Oto it’s a case of ‘hey, you’ve got some pretty badass mutants! That’s so cool! Ally?’
Kumo: They ally with countries that are going to be beneficial to ally with. Ame's also like a little brother to them, too. Cloud – rain; makes sense.
Iwa: Alllies with most, but Kiri's been rude to them in the past, and Oto is, obviously, not to be allied with if you want to keep most of your other alliances. As for Takikagure, their Kages are not exactly on the best of terms.
Ame: They ally with everyone they can. But allying with Oto will cause problems, obviously, for their other alliances. It’s safer this way.
Kusa: The Grass and Ground villages have never really been anything less than friends. Ame and Kusa are allied because they're both kinda weak and a problem shared is a problem halved, especially when your armies aren’t strong enough to deal with the problem whole. But Kusa basically just try to stay out of trouble.
Oto: Hated by most, basically. The Otokage, Orochimaru, killed the Sandaime Hokage. So they’re not exactly what you would call friends.
Taki: Hates Kiri but, other than that, allies with others of the watery persuasion. As for the rest of the villages, they couldn’t care less. They’re not going to waste time with alliances; they’re pretty sure they can handle themselves if war was ever waged on them.
